Seattle-based fiber and installation artist Justine Ashbee was at HEREKEKE through the Collaborations Program. She helped facilitate the art program with the Sangre the Cristo Youth Ranch using the wool from the Ranch’s Churro sheep, began a community weaving project, and created a series of prints that used wire sculptures from her previous exhibition.

Justine Ashbee received her BFA in Textile Design from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2003. Her work has explored various weaving processes, from woven filament installation works, to weaving a living arts community as director of Cairo Gallery, in Seattle, WA, from 2008-2010. She is most know for her drawings, which involve an organic evolution of intuitive line development, capturing feeling and sensation through fluid line forms.
