Photographing the New Mexico Landscape

Join documentary photographer Regula Franz and digital fine art printer Liliana Mejía in strengthening your photographic vision and digital workflow from capture to output on some of the most memorable and protected private lands in Northern New Mexico.

             August 1 - 5, 2011

DESCRIPTION

August 1, 2011 – August 5, 2011

Photograph open skies and abundant landscapes in contrast with natural sculptures and artifacts set against the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and Carson National Forest. Capture luminosity, shape your sense of composition and learn how to use your camera more effectively in constant changing light with personalized feedback to reach beyond the ordinary image.

In the classroom you will have the opportunity to upload and edit your images daily with focused attention on realizing your personal aesthetics. Develop your digital workflow from raw processing, tonal range and local adjustments to sharpening techniques based on final scale and printing media. Focus will be placed on training your eye to see subtle changes in color and tonality to have your final output match your vision.

INSTRUCTORS

Instructors Regula Franz and Liliana Mejía developed a lasting friendship while Regula was completing three Artist Residencies from 2005 to 2007 at Anderson Ranch Arts Center. This workshop was developed due to their respect for each other, their great combined knowledge and their relationship to Lama Mountain.

She teaches classes in digital photography and fine art printing privately and at VCUArts, VMFA Studio School and the Visual Arts Center of Richmond. On a spiritual quest for many years, she has observed and photographed sacred places and indigenous cultures all over the globe, most profoundly on a one-year journey through Southeast Asia and Nepal, which resulted in two solo exhibitions, Signs of Immortality in 2003, and Sacred Encounters in 2006. Regula has been a Visiting Artist at HEREKEKE in 2009 and 2010.

LILIANA MEJÍA
